I’ve been pitched on several business opportunities, but I never thought I’d say yes to one.
When my friends host parties to ask for support or a free candle or scrapbooking supplies, I’ve always been very supportive. Besides, I’ve even been to a few parties just because I wanted to get some product credits, skincare deals, and other product deals.
But why did I join this particular company? What made me finally say yes to a business opportunity?
Ground Floor Opportunity
I knew the Founder and CEO when I was looking for an opportunity to join a company.
If I were ever to consider one, it would be one that he was in charge of. You can’t go wrong with him because of his honesty, his vast knowledge, and his status as a Harvard graduate, and the fact that everything he touches turns to gold! That is why I have total trust in him. With or without me, I knew the company would be successful.
With it being a ground-floor opportunity, it didn’t take long to realize this could be good.
Only the fact that I’d never done anything like this before made me pause.
I Was Ready for Change
I was in a rut. I had been working in my other business for about 10 years, and I was tired of it. It wasn’t that I hated it—I just felt like there had to be something else out there for me. Something different from what I’d been doing but also something that would allow me to keep doing what I loved: being flexible with my time, working from home, and the ability to choose projects based on what excited me rather than what paid the bills.
I knew that making the change would mean giving up some of those things about the old business, but I didn’t know what exactly it would mean.
I was in search of something different. But what?
I Was Asked the Magic Question
I was asked to speak at our annual convention about what joining this business has done for me. I thought about it and decided I didn’t know what to share or where to start and keep it under three minutes. I don’t know how to explain how profoundly this experience has impacted my life.
My journey started with the magic questions: What would I do if I had all the money and all the time in the world?
This is what happened when I let myself answer: To travel the world.
I would take my family on trips to oceans, to different countries and cultures, I’d take them to experience our countries history. Now, eight years later, I find myself being asked by the company’s founder and CEO to give a speech on the impact that working for this company has had on my life.
My Answer
There are too many to name. But I’ll start with the ones that stand out the most. It’s been so rewarding financially; I’ve gained leadership skills, learned about myself, improved my relationships with my family and friends, and—best of all—experienced those trips I dreamed about.
When I was a kid, my vacations were simple. We drove, never flew, and stayed with my grandparents. The idea of traveling anywhere “fancy” was not an option. As I got older, that didn’t change. When I got married, that didn’t change. Now with a young family, our opportunity to travel to anywhere other than a drivable neighboring state would take years to plan and didn’t feel realistic.
My Life Now
We were not exactly what you’d call “high-rolling” people. We were pretty low-key. We love our jobs but don’t make much money and had to work and budget and be very strategic about any sort of “extra” in our life. We didn’t have the means to travel like I had dreamed about.
But then I joined pawTree, and everything changed.
I’ve been with pawTree for eight years now. And in that time, we’ve taken our family to Florida, and California many times; we took a ski vacation a few winters ago, Hawaii, Mexico—and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. In addition, we bought a travel trailer and spent many summer weekends camping.
Matt and I have also been able to take some amazing trips together (so minus the kids!) over the last eight years:
- Cabo twice & Cancun
- Europe (for my 40th birthday) and visited five different countries while there
- Hawaii twice
- Florida, The list goes on!
What I’ve Learned
Life is good! The memories with our family are priceless.
The joy we’ve had, the experiences we’ve had as a family—all are priceless, and I cherish each one. I’m eagerly anticipating what the future holds.
If someone asks you to look at an opportunity, before you say no, consider what taking a look could do for you. It may not be for you, but what if?
