Is Salmon Oil Good for Dogs?

The answer is, YES! And it’s great for cats too! Providing essential fatty acids is critically important to your dog and cat’s overall health. Wild Alaskan Salmon & Pollock Oil is a magnificent source of Omega-3 fatty acids that is necessary for almost every function in your pet’s body.

There are Omega-6 fatty acids and Omega-3 fatty acids. But what’s the difference?

Omega-6 fatty acids are found in vegetable oil, sunflower oil, and safflower oil. These oils are common in most dog and cat food diets.

On the other hand, Omega-3 fatty acids are found either in fresh, wild-caught fish or in different types of seaweeds.

However, the biggest difference is that Omega-6 fatty acids are anti-inflammatory while Omega-3 fatty acids are pro-inflammatory.

These days, a typical dog or cat’s diet follows an average 1:40 ratio. That’s one part Omega-3 fatty acids to 40 parts Omega-6 fatty acids. Unfortunately, this is a pro-inflammatory diet—which many pet owners are unaware of.

By adding Wild Alaskan Salmon & Pollock Oil to your pet’s diet, you increase the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids which are vitally important to your pet’s overall health.

But how do you know if your pet’s diet is affecting their health? A common symptom of Omega-3 fatty acid deficiency is poor quality, itchy coat. But don’t worry—you don’t have to make any major changes to their diet or lifestyle to fix this.

All you need to do is increase the amount of Omega-3 fatty acids to see the improvement in their skin and coat quality! Bonus: they won’t be as itchy.

By increasing the amount of good oils in your pet’s diet, you’re supporting overall optimum health for a healthy dog and cat, and vibrant life!

Not all salmon and salmon and pollock oil are the same, trust us! The source of the fish and how it’s processed are very important. It is very important to use wild-caught. The difference is that salmon and pollock caught in the ocean are living vibrant, healthy lives.

Farm-raised salmon and pollock, on the other hand, are held in captivity. A large number of these fishes live in a very small area, unable to live rich, full lives. This causes substantial stress on those fish. That stress relates to the biochemicals that those fish release, so wild-caught salmon and wild-caught pollock provide a better quality fish oil than farm-raised salmon. So read the labels, read reviews, and know what you’re buying.
